We follow a minimal vaccine schedule with our dogs, and we vaccinate at 10-11, 14-15 and final set at about 18 weeks- with the common DHPP Vaccine. Rabies vaccine is given 4 weeks after the final set around 22 weeks of age. Our adults are vaccinated again at 1 and 4 years old and we stop, with the exception of the rabies vaccine which is administered every 3 years for life as required by law in our area. Before puppies depart to their forever homes, our vet vaccinates each pup with the common DHPP Vaccine for Puppies, between 6 and 7 weeks of age. If you live in a location of the country where Leptospirosis infection is a possible threat, please talk to your vet about this vaccine- it is a very serious infection becoming more common in recent years so please speak to your vet in regard to your pup’s individual risk in your area.
